Science and Weight Loss

The latest and greatest in the science world is the new research on overeating. Some researchers say that an excess of a hormone called ghrelin causes hunger and others blame a deficiency of leptin- the satiety hormone. Overeating may be caused because we cannot get satisfied... science are studing how we can fill full longer.

I am sure it won't be long before we will have all kinds of foods and drugs based on this new research. In the mean time, eat Oatmeal---according to "The Satiety Index" published by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in September 1995 oatmeal ranks in the top two for most satiating foods.

Hidden cookies taste the best...

I read an interesting article published by PRWeb.com called "Psychiatrist Says Favorite Foods in a Weight Loss Plan May Cause Diet Failure" http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/11/prweb305467.htm

Highlights:

Psychiatrist, Dr. Anthony J. Burlay says: Differentiating between “wants” and “needs” and learning what your body is designed to eat is the key to weight loss.

.....a shift to a permanent change in food choices is the way to sustainable weight loss.

Changes in food choices that meet your body’s needs rather then your wants will, in time, lead to a change in those wants.
