The Rotation Diet

Theory:

When you use the Rotation Diet, you alternative your caloric intake over a three-week period in order to achieve a dramatic, quick weight loss without predisposing yourself to that frustrating, rebound weight gain that tends to follow the use of every other low-calorie diet.

Women use a mixed diet consisting of a wide variety of goods and approximately 600 calories per day for three days, followed by 900 calories per day for four days, and then a week on 1200 calories per day.  You then do the 600/900-calorie rotation once again.

Men use a mixed diet of approximately 1200 calories per day for three days, followed by 1500 calories per day for four days, followed by a week on 1800 calories per day.  The 1200/1500 rotation is repeated once again.

Then you stop dieting. It is very important that you take at least a brief vacation from dieting.  After a week’s or a month’s vacation from dieting (it’s up to you) you go on the Rotation Diet for another 10-, 15-, or 20- pound weight loss

Free vegetables

Certain foods have so few calories that you can eat them in unlimited quantities. They include: asparagus, celery, chicory, Chinese cabbage, cucumber, endive, escarole, lettuce, parsley, radish, spinach, watercress, zucchini

Safe fruits (if vegetables are not satisfying, and you feel hungry between meals or are tempted by some rich dessert).  They include apple, berries, grapefruit, melon, orange, peach, pineapple, tangerine

Allowable Beverages

You must have eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Use ice water with a piece of lemon or lime if you find it difficult to drink the required amount, or use seltzer.  Avoid artificially sweetened beverages.  Up to two cups of coffee or tea are permitted.  You can also use herb teas in moderation.
